NCPUL Seminar & Workshop Grant: A Big Boost for Urdu Language Enthusiasts
If your organization is passionate about Urdu—be it literature, language, or cultural heritage—here’s some great news! The National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) is offering financial assistance to NGOs and registered bodies to organize seminars, conferences, and workshops. This is a fantastic chance to bring Urdu-focused events to life and connect with a wider community.
What’s This Scheme About?
NCPUL, working under the Ministry of Education, has launched this scheme to encourage activities that promote the beauty and richness of the Urdu language. The idea is to support organizations that want to host events discussing linguistics, literature, culture, and heritage linked to Urdu.
Whether your event is local, state-level, national, or even international, there’s support available!
What Kind of Support Can You Get?
Depending on the scale of your event, you can apply for:
- ₹37,500 for Local or District-level events
- ₹75,000 for State-level events
- ₹1,50,000 for National-level seminars
- ₹4,50,000 for International-level events
Here’s what’s covered:
Rent for the event venue
- Travel allowance (TA/DA) for participants (up to 2nd AC train fare). Immerse yourself in the world of Urdu language with the NCPUL Seminar & Workshop Grant. Participants also benefit from travel allowance (TA/DA) of up to 2nd AC train fare, making engagement in this awareness program even more accessible.
- Honorarium for scholarly papers (₹1,000 per paper).
- Miscellaneous and contingency costs.
Note: The grant is given in two parts half upfront and the rest after the event report, participant list, and utilization certificate are submitted.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for this scheme, your organization should:
- Be a registered NGO/trust/society (minimum 3 years old)
- Be listed on the NGO Darpan portal (ngodarpan.gov.in)
- Submit a theme paper or synopsis in Urdu (2–5 pages)
- Provide a list of scholars or experts attending
- Have at least 5 scholars from different Indian states (for national events)
- For international events, at least 5 scholars from different countries must be invited
- Not have received funding from NCPUL in the previous financial year (except for colleges/universities)
Documents You’ll Need :-
Here’s a quick checklist:
- Filled-in application form (available on the NCPUL website).
- Urdu language synopsis of your event.
- Detailed list of participants and speakers.
- Estimated budget (venue, travel, honorarium, etc.)
- Registration certificate of your organization.
- Your NGO Darpan ID.
- Bank details (with IFSC code and branch info).
- Details of any previous grant received from NCPUL.
Important Dates :-
Applications are accepted from 1st May to 31st May every year.
