Every year, thousands of lives are lost on Indian roads due to preventable accidents. To tackle this pressing issue head-on, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has opened applications for the “Scheme of Financial Assistance for Administering Road Safety Advocacy and Awards for Outstanding Work in Road Safety” for FY 2025-26.
This initiative supports NGOs, institutions, and organizations committed to making India’s roads safer for everyone. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.
Road accidents remain one of India’s top causes of fatalities and serious injuries. Ministry of Road Transport & Highways launched this scheme to support on-ground advocacy, education, and intervention initiatives that directly reduce accidents and enhance public awareness about road safety.
Introduction to the Scheme :-
Launched officially via guidelines on 21st September 2021, this scheme aims to:-
- Promote road safety awareness through campaigns and workshops.-
- Recognize outstanding contributors in the field of road safety.
- Provide financial assistance to implement meaningful advocacy projects.
In FY 2025-26, the application portal is open from 16th April to 15th May 2025.
Scope of Work :-
Applicants are expected to focus on one specific theme and detail activities under that theme. Scope includes:-
- Organizing workshops, awareness drives, and safety campaigns.
- Targeting schools, colleges, transport hubs, and vulnerable road user groups.
- Collecting and analyzing baseline data (if applicable).
- Using innovative, localized, and measurable approaches.

Eligibility Criteria:-
To be eligible, the applicant must:-
- Be a registered organization (NGO, institution, etc.).
- Have completed at least one road safety or awareness program in the last 3 years.
- Be able to submit verified documentation of past work and funding.
Documents Required :-
Your application must include:-
1. Proof of experience (e.g., sanction letters, audit reports).
2. Work orders or contracts from previous projects.
3. A detailed technical proposal, including:-
Location details:
- Target audience
- Project theme
- Methodology
- Expected outcomes
4. A realistic financial proposal with cost breakdown (incl. taxes/GST).
5. Baseline data, if applicable
