SBI Foundation – Muskaan (Child Development)

India’s future lies in its children. But even today there are many children who do not get proper nutrition, health services, education and a safe childhood. SBI Foundation has started a new initiative to bring back the smile of these children – “Muskaan”.

If your NGO is working in the field of development, protection and education of children, then this opportunity is for you.

Introduction – Why is Muskaan program important:

SBI Foundation is the CSR arm of State Bank of India, which has changed the lives of more than 2 crore people across the country so far. Working in the field of education, health, rural development and women empowerment, now they have launched a special program for children – Muskaan.

This program is in line with the principles of UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) and is designed to give children a safe, empowered and complete childhood.

What is Muskaan Program?

SBIF Muskaan is a CSR-based funding program launched to support eligible NGOs across the country in three key areas:

Scope of work – where can you contribute?

1- Adoption of Child Care Institutions (CCI)

Providing safe housing and education for children in need of care and protection – such as orphans, street children, sexually abused or trafficking victims.

Work involved:

  • Running or improving children’s homes
  • Nutrition, education, counselling, and life skills
  • Family reunification and social rehabilitation
  • Location: Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar
  • Budget: ₹25 lakh to ₹2 crore
  • Duration: 2 years

2. Creating model Anganwadi cum Creches (AWCCs):

Creating safe, nurturing and learning-friendly spaces for young children (6 months to 6 years).
Work involved:
  • Establishing or improving new Anganwadi centres
  • Training parents and staff
  • Health check-ups, food and play-based education for children
  • Location: Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana
  • Budget: ₹2 crore (for 4 AWCCs)
  • Duration: 2 years

3. Awareness and support against child sexual abuse:

Keeping children safe by spreading awareness in schools and communities, and providing legal and psychological support to abused children.

Work Involved:

  • School-based awareness programmes
  • Parenting workshops, teacher training
  •  Counselling and legal aid under POCSO Act
  •  Location: Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh
  •  Budget: Up to ₹1 crore
  • Duration: 2 years

  • Holistic development of children – education, health, safety and entertainment
  • Community involvement – connecting children to society and eradicating stigma
  • Sustainable and replicable models
  • Minimum government approval and maximum impact

  • Trust / Society / Section 8 Company registered in India
  • 3 years of experience and work related to the field

In the last 3 years:

  • Turnover of more than ₹2 crores (for projects with budget less than ₹1 crore)
  • Turnover of more than ₹5 crores (for budget more than ₹1 crore)
  • Minimum 4 board members and 5 permanent employees
  • No association with any political or religious organization
  • No blacklisting

Required Documents:

  • Registration Certificate, 12A, 80G, PAN
  • Income Tax Returns and Audit Reports of the last 3 years
  • Profile and Annual Report of the NGO
  • Biodata of Board Members and Leaders
  • Finance and HR Policy
  • Impact Assessment Report, MIS System
  • Project Budget and Action Plan
  • CSR Form-1 and other policy documents
